David Robinson, born April 2, 1949 in Woburn, Massachusetts, is an American drummer best known for his work with '70s rock group, The Cars (1976-1988, 2010-present). Robertson has also performed with The Rising Tide, The Modern Lovers, and DMZ.
Robinson, a founding member of The Cars, is credited with coming up with the band's name as well as designing the group's album covers. In fact he painted the checkered flag for The Cars' 1980 album, Panorama.
The Cars broke up in February 1988 then reunited in 2010, releasing a new album, Move Like This.
