W.S. Fluke Holland

The Drummer Cafe recorded over 15-minutes of video footage from the W.S. "Fluke" Holland clinic on Saturday, May 16th at 11:00am during the 19th Annual Chicago Drum Show.

During the clinic, Fluke, along with his trio, performed a number of Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash tunes. He also spent a considerable amount of time telling stories about his time working with Johnny Cash. Fluke also explained how he came up with his drum set-up, which was essentially that he didn't know a "correct" way to go about it. Being right-handed, he went ahead and set the kit up with the HiHat on the right side of the kit, thus playing the Kick drum with his left foot. Essentially he plays, what we would call, a left-handed drum set-up using open-grip (sticks don't cross to play the HiHat).
