Nashville Drum Show 2012

With its various locations, name changes, and humble beginnings some sixteen years ago, the 2012 Nashville Drum Show, held on September 29 - 30, demonstrated that it is slowly becoming one of the biggest drum industry trade shows in the nation, second only to the inveterate Chicago Drum Show.

This year's Nashville Drum Show, a two-day convention of drummers, percussionists, drum and percussion manufacturers, vintage drum collectors, classic rock performances, over 1,000 attendees (according to George Lawrence), was presented by Not So Modern Drummer Magazine and Fork's Drum Closet.

There was something for everyone, young and old, at the Nashville Drum Show. Besides the exhibit hall with its 50 exhibitors and Snare Drum Olympics participants, there was an outdoor stage which featured a house band that allowed drums sit-in and jam, and a drum solo contest for all ages. The evening's festivities were held on the main stage with Saturday performances by Sanders Nelson Trio, Midnight Riders, and Poco; Sunday performances by Keith Carlock with the Wayne Krantz Trio.

Drummer Cafe was there, not only covering the event but exhibiting (booth #51) as well, as you will see in this 8-minute video report.
