BIOGRAPHY
Marvin McQuitty Jr., born August 30, 1966 in Ann Arbor, MI, was an American drummer best known for his work in Gospel music with such artists as Fred Hammond, Israel & New Breed, Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary but also worked with pop artists like Stevie Wonder, Jessica Simpson and Destiny's Child.
Marvin was both the booking manager and on the road intermittenly with Praise & Worship Grammy nominated artist Israel and New Breed. In addition to producing for various artists, McQuitty gave drum clinics and spoke to youth groups in churches all over the U.S. and abroad.
Marvin passed away, at the age of 46, on September 11, 2012, after a 5-year struggle with the blood disorder, autoimmune myelofibrosis.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of legendary drummer, musician Marvin McQuitty on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in Houston, TX. Marvin McQuitty, who collaborated with everyone from the gospel artists Fred Hammond and Israel & New Breed to the pop stars Stevie Wonder and Jessica Simpson, passed away this week at age forty-six.
McQuitty, a true talent, made an indelible impact on music and his loss is felt throughout the industry. His humble spirit, kindness and generosity will be missed.
The Memorial Service for Marvin McQuitty will be held Monday, September 17 at 11am. The service will take place at Grace Church of Humble located at 7224 North Sam Houston Parkway East, Humble, TX 77396.
There will also be a "Celebration of Life" Service held in Marvin's hometown of Detroit, MI next Wednesday, September 19 at 11am at Straight Gate International Church. Straight Gate is located at 10100 Grand River, Detroit, MI 48204.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts the McQuitty Family is requesting that donations be made in honor of Marvin to support his daughter's college education.

DOCUMENTARY
The Indiegogo campaign to produce the Marvin McQuitty Jr. documentary raised $17,000 (almost twice the amout of money needed!) and ended on April 23, 2013. The finished product premiered on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Old Garden Oaks Theater, 3754 N Shepherd Drive, Houston, TX. Unfortunately, now two years after its premier, the documentary is still not available due to numerous "edit delays".
