BIOGRAPHY
Mickey Jones, born June 10, 1941 in Houston, Texas, was an American musician and actor, and as a drummer in the 1960s and 70s, was best known for his work with such artists as Bob Dylan, Trini Lopez, Johnny Rivers, and The First Edition with Kenny Rogers.
In the span of two decades, Jones has received 17 gold records to show for his musical career.
Upon the break-up of The First Edition in 1976, Jones concentrated on his career as a character actor, where he made television appearances on such shows as "Home Improvement", "Baywatch", "T.J. Hooker", "Growing Up Fisher" and "Newsreaders", as well as films like "Sling Blade", "Tin Cup", and "Starman."
In 2004, Mickey released Bob Dylan - World Tour 1966: The Home Movies which he filmed with his 8mm video camera while drumming on tour with Dylan. The film documents Dylan's first electric tour and includes a behind the scenes look at the making of the film, Eat The Document.
In 2007, Jones released his autobiography, That Would Be Me: Rock & Roll Survivor to Hollywood Actor, which drew the first part of its title from the catchphrase used by his character on Tim Allen's "Home Improvement."
Mickey Jones died after a long illness on Wednesday, February 7, 2018; he was 76.
