Drummers and drum enthusiasts from all over the world will converge for the Second Annual Drummer's Reality Camp, June 29th through July 2nd at Los Angeles Music Academy College of Music. Guest instructors include Alex Acuña, Kenny Aronoff, Terry Bozzio, Jim Keltner, Cobus Potgieter, Gil Sharone and Thomas Pridgen (with others to be announced) while LA Music Academy's own Ralph Humphrey, Dave Beyer, Aaron Serfaty, Tony Inzalaco and Joe Porcaro round out the artist list. The four-day event includes workshops, lessons, master classes, special performances, autograph sessions and a DW Drums factory tour; individual days and evening concerts will be available a la carte.

"A diverse community of drummers and an intimate environment like LA Music Academy make this event one of a kind," says Don Lombardi, founder of DrumChannel.com and DW Drums. "It's a great opportunity for drummers to get up close and personal with some of the most respected names in drums." Drummers can expect inspiring performances, an uplifting and thought provoking roundtable (one of the highlights of last year's event) and the opportunity to network with a group of like-minded drumming fanatics.

"Last year's Drummer's Reality Camp was a huge success, so we urge all drummers dedicated to the craft of playing drums to be a part of this inspiring, educational event," says Michael Packer, vice president and drum department instructor at LA Music Academy. The age requirement is 14 years and up. Participants must have at least a year of drumming instruction. All drummers must bring a practice pad with stand and sticks, and drum kits will be provided for all scheduled drum set instruction. Drummers can also bring cymbals and pedals for after-hours practice in the school's drum labs. Drummer's Reality Camp is $495 for the entire week, $75 per day (morning lectures not included), and $25 for each evening concert.

Where is the use of the word Reality coming from?

Chris Whitten

Opposite of 'fantasy' (camp)?

The 'reality' is, $500 for a week hanging out with those players (listed) is a bargain.  ;D

Larry Rankine

I went to the "fantasy" camp last year and it was AWESOME!  Getting to "hang" and learn from names like Igoe, Erskine, Lang, Weckl, and Mayer defintely was a dream come true (at least for me)!  Sounds like the "reality" camp is taking a page from Steve Orkin's playbook.......they certainly have an impressive lineup as well!

Bart Elliott

Perhaps, since Drum Channel is an online (virtual) experience, the camp is "hands on", live in person ... thus the reality.

Who knows really. You need to talk to their marketing team.  ;)

It does seem like they are playing off the "fantasy" camp.
