I don't like gold hardware of any type, not even lugs on a snare.

I suspect they'll sell at least one:

I have a birthday next month. I wonder how my family would feel about a gift like that? I think I'm worth it. Ha Ha Ha.

Ahhh... The O.G. "gold tooth" of the drumset.

That is the ugliest thing i've ever seen. I hate gold hardware across the board. They'll sell some mostly for the wow factor...

I love DW hardware - especially their pedals.  But this is just goofy.

Why would you endure the probable cashectomy required for one of these (or the all chrome Iron Cobra for that matter), when it spends most of its time packed in a case, or completely hidden behind your bass drum and under your foot?  I don't get it.

Every drummer needs "bling bling" for his/her drumset.  I'll bet they sell at least one more:

I am sure someone will buy it but it won't be me.  Looks more like a trophy than a functional piece of equipment. It is for people with way to much money.  I hate to say this though. I love Carl Palmers Paiste Drum kit made out of cymbal material and I like the Stainless ones he played in the 70's. Both were fairly flashy.  Someone told me that Ringo bought the Stainless Kit?

If i can buy one, there's no doubt I will. I bet you can get a least double what you pay for it on ebay.

I dunno. . .  those chrome Iron Cobras are going for $189 at Musician's Friend and $199 on e-bay (plus shipping).

I mean once they sell out. I think it said they were making a limited quantity. Eh, I'm too broke to afford one in the first place anyway  :'(

Gold should stick to jewelery, does the 5000 look like jewelery to you? uggg  ::) I dig the chrome Cobras though.

Not a fan of gold, and don't want to get myself into collecting more collectable gear.

They have gold 9000s on the Neil Peart kit at GC Hollywood. Plays the same, but I can't get past the gold.

Got to play it, but not for too long. Didn't want to be responsible for a $30k kit. I helped put the barrier back around it afterward.

No gold hardware for moi. Black powder coat is my thang.

Drumwild, I love your little smirk/cat that ate the canary grin too.  Awesome post.

I got a real kick out out of this one.  I'm grinning ear to ear.  ;D ;D

The only person who should be able to have and play that kit is N.P. IMHO

Exactly right, Dave.  And when you stop and think about it, the pedal is 24k gold plated, which means that it wouldn't take much playing to wear the gold plating off the footboard.

If I were to own that pedal (and I do own the 9002 doubles), I would never play it, just put it in a display case and wait for a few years and then put it on Ebay.

I'm wondering what price it might bring after the limited edition pedals have been made?   Hmmmm....(scratches chin)......

Regards,
drumz1

Its funny.  I actually do have a couple of pedals up on a shelf.  One is an old Speed King given to me by Bobby Christian when I was studying with him.  The other is a ~1922 "Ludwig Original" model 310 pedal.  All things considered I think the gold 9002 would look out of place if placed in that collection. :)

Cool looking, but you may as well throw your money into a lake.
