So I've been trying to think of some good names for a dog, for my girlfriend's dog is having puppies and I get one! So far I've come up with:
- RimShot
- Ringo
What do you guys think? Any clever ideas? This could also go for middle names for kids as well! ;)
I have always liked Tama as a name. And only a drummer could get it.
-Crash (almost any cymbal name- China for a white dog would be cool)
-Ostinato
-Rhythm
-Accent (or Rebound)
-Chopper
My next 2 dogs will likely be named Bonzo & Tango, after Bonham and my fave Zep song - Tangerine.
Bonham is a great middle name - even first name for a kid.
Buddy - sounds like a normal name but it has extra meaning to drummers
A couple of other off the top of my head
Groover
Pocket
Ludwig
Splashy The Rockin' Dog
Tom
Bozzio
Moon Doggie (as in Keith and it's a doggie ;D)
Djembe
Sticks
Remo
Kit (or Kitty if you want to scar the dog for life...all the other doggies will laugh at him/her!!)
Rudy (as in Rudiment)
OK...I'm getting corny now, better stop :P
Yammy
Flam
Zildj-- ok, that's a reach.
Remo
Ambassador
I have named every pet I've owned since high school after some form of drums and drumming. I try to match the animals personality to the name! So far there has been:
Avedis - a black lab I had for 17! years
Bernard - my current dog, for the last 12
Pearl - a dog from college
Vinnie - another black lab I had right after I got married
And last but not least, the only animal I've ever claimed as truly my own, LARS the cat. He was awesome! He was about 4 weeks old when I found him under the porch of my house in college. I propped him up on my coffee table, and he had this attitude look along with this pure white body, except for a black patch under his chin that looked like a goatee. He swiped Avedis on the nose when she came for an inspection, and Lars ruled the house for the next 10 years! What a great cat. I miss him, if you can't tell; he died about 5 years ago, right after my daughter was born. Sucks, but it is the cycle.

Introducing....Bonham!
He thinks everything is funny (Go figger).
....allthough my wife often calls him, because of his currosity, nosey rosey :D
If you had a collie, you could name it ....
Vinnie Collie Uta!
One of our dogs is Ginny
short for Ginger (unintentional)
We grew up next to dog named Crash, but just because he was rowdy and clumsy.
Our dog growing up was Jingles, kind of a stretch.
How about Bongo?
I had a friend back in college who had a Chow-Chow named Wuhan.

Moosetication
BigBillInBoston

Now that you mention it, "Acro" would be a cute name for a dog...
If it's a girl... "Pearl" is good name! LOL ;D

My dog Max (after Max Roach)
I might be convinced to name my next cat/dog djembe, though.
Hey what's that in your ear? Oh, look it's a shiny new quarter!!!!

^^^^^ Am I the only one who couldn't stop staring at the dog on the bottom right *ahem* ... "servicing" himself? LOL!
Anyway .. I think the best name suggestion so far is Remo for a little dog, or Tama if it's a large dog.

I dunno about the first one. Could you picture yourself standing on your porch at 11pm yelling "PARADIDDLE!" at the top of your lungs? Heh heh. ;)

Sure why not?!
To steal a joke from Steven Wright, I want to name my dog "Stay". That way when you call him you yell: "Come here Stay, Come here Stay!"
How about GROOVE! I defy anyone to beat (get it) that!!!
Sorry, it's late and it's been a long day...
How about Bonzo? (I didn't see that listed yet, just Bonham)
What about Leedy or Camco?
Or if he's named Paradiddle: "Bad dog, Paradiddle, did you diddle on the carpet?"
Perry Diddle
We just gave our kids a new puppy and my daughter named it 'Drummer' which I thought was cool since I was at work when my wife brought it home because I said no to the dog 14 times. Anyway, 'Drummer' is pretty decent.
(my son doesnt seem to have much interest in the pup though and I find that somewhat odd)
Its kind of a longshot, but how about Dexter, short for dexterity
- Bonzo
- Buddy
- Gruber (after teaching great Freddie gruber)
Or you can be really creavtive with music and name him Digerdoo (sp?)
;D
Paiste is a nice simple doggie drum related name
My dog's name is Buddy and I never even made that connection.
How about Seven. Seven is a great name.
I can even make it drum related, as in seven stroke roll.
OK, maybe Soda instead.
Seriously, I would name a dog Luddy, and if there were 2, Luddy and Leedy.
call your dog "Stick".
Remo
Samba
Rumba
Gadd
Bermuda
Krupa
thumper
