Hey, guys. Newbie to the Cafe, here. Figured there wasn't really a better way to introduce myself than to post a video of my current band playing live. This particular video is from the Slave To The Metal Festival that came through our town (Charleston, SC) hosted by Mistress Juliya (from Fuse TV, I think).

This is the opening song. I guess you'll get a good idea of my playing style from this video. Lots of cymbal choking, variations of blasting (given the style of music, I believe I apply them tastefully, lol), and double bass flurries...quartets, I guess. Not triplets.

Pardon the screaming if you can't stand it, lol. And the vulgarities. Whoohoo. Hello.

Here's some Christmas Cheer that I did with my 9 year old son on vocals.  All the instruments are me.

This showed up on youtube from a couple weeks ago. It was at 9 am and about an hours sleep, though.

Just catching up to this.  Outstanding.   Your boy rocks.  You, too.    :)

I had that up loud with the computer speakers.   The whole family enjoyed it.

Merry Christmas.

New Year's Eve gig. I think I was watching the game on the big screen TV...or something. It was a last minute thing, and I believe I counted a total of 5 people in the audience when it peaked @ 11:30 (when they set the buffet out, oddly enough). Despite the disappointing turnout, we rocked....I think.

I love that you kept your cell phone on your belt loop.

[Phone rings at the end of song]

"Hello this is Rylie. Sure, I have time. Where? I'll be there in 10 minutes."

[To band]

"Sorry guys, I got a better gig. Have a great night!"

lol ....

Ha! I keep it on vibrate ...most of the time, but my ringtone is James Brown's "Poppa Don't Take No Mess", so if I forget, everyone thinks I'm hip.  ;D

I posted some music samples on my new site.

Beautiful, Bobby.  What album is the Boyd/Egan/Clarke material from?  I have to buy it.

I didn't know you play with Mark.  He lives in my region.

Rylie

Yes indeed, Bobby! Great stuff.

:)

Bobby Boyd

Thank you!
Frank, The material is from something I haven't finished yet.(Which could be just about anything I start.)
I hope to get it done by next year. We did that at Mark's studio. It's beautiful up there.
Well, off to NAMM. Let the fun begin.

Hello all, it's been a long time since I've been here and decided it's time to see who is still around at the ol cafe!
I have been playing in a Tool tribute band called Spiral Out, playing in and around Jersey, Philly and NYC....here are a couple vids from some gigs. The first one is from last Saturday at the Crossroads in Garwood NJ, the second is from Sullivan Hall in NYC(this one is using a Go Pro camera I usually use for surfing, I placed it behind me)

I'm a newby here. I will be 57 in March. I started playing in the school orchestra in 1963 and got my first trap kit out of the Sears & Roebuck catalog 2 years later. I've mostly played in cover bands all my life.
1st post is for me to see avatar and signature and posting a video as a way of introduction. It's from September of 2010.

That kind of drumming has always impressed me. I guess it's because there's so many licks and chops but it's something I never took the time to learn.
I loved Bill Bruford in his Yes and King Crimson Days but once he started doing stuff similar this on his solo albums he lost me. After about a minute I'm bored with the music somehow and after two minutes it's, "Let me out of the room"!
I once saw the Dixie Dregs in Atlanta. Each player was really impressive! But, after twenty minutes I had to cut out, I couldn't take the too frantic and disjointed music any longer. Changes for the sake of changes, forced funk. Just ain't my style.
Still. I'm impressed with what you can play. Your drums and cymbals sound great! I've never heard of that cymbal company. Another sign I might be getting to old for this game.
