Hi, any of you saw/own a LP giovanni practice conga?

Do you know if it is tunable and can heads be replaced?

Thanks

Ales

Yahoo newsgroups aren't my first choice for a cite, but this doesn't look too disputable:

QuoteBut on the upside, we did love their new practice conga--essentially a conga head on a metal frame that can be tuned from underneath.

I would assume that since it is tunable, the heads are replacable as well; I could be wrong.  However it is, I have to admit it sounds pretty darned good!

Pssst!  Google is your friend. :)

Hi alesj,

Hope all is well! Answering your question, yes the LP Giovanni Compact Conga is tunable, and yes you can also change the heads on it.  I do own one and I'm very impressed with it's sounds, although bass tones are almost non existent. I have heard of some players using it for giging purposes, but I must say it is more suitable for practicing purposes.

Hope this helps!

Yes ... I have a review of the Practice Conga here at the Drummer Cafe ... yes there's video footage, so you can hear it in action, and yes ... I've played on them before!  ;D

No, I don't own one yet, but I want one ... and we have the in our on-line store!

Here's my review:

I think its a great product for what it does. I hope they will come up with a quinto & tumbadora size ones as well.  I may get one one day. It would be nice to add to the drumset arsenal.

Since we are talking about head diameter, I personally see no reason to have additional sizes, and I doubt they will ever do it.

Conga head diameters vary only slightly ... not even a full inch from drum to drum. The practice conga has no body ... like a normal conga would. So all of the pitch differences you would want should come from tuning the Practice Conga.

Keep in mind ... this is a PRACTICE CONGA ... not a real instrument. It's a practice pad for hand drummers. I'd love to have two, just to have the ability to work on lateral movements between drums ... and tuning them differently would work just fine.
