Hi,

I've been working on tuning my 12 and 14 inch tama artstar toms... six lugs each...

when i'm trying to get the drum in tune with itself, though... (and have been trying to get near a pitch)... tightening one lug raises the pitch of the one next to it.  this makes sense... but how exactly do you get a drum in tune with itself and deal with this?

thanks a lot,
larry

Hey, nice drums, the Artstars.  I remember seeing Simon Phillips at a clinic back in the 80's, and I think he was playing his Artstars then.

I don't remember, do the Artstars have diecast hoops, or standard stamped?  In either case, the method is the same (though diecast hoops change the sound at other lugs much easier).

You could also try a "Search" for tuning here at the Cafe and you'd get a lot.
