Michael Cartellone

Michael Cartellone, born June 7, 1962 in Solon, Ohio, is an American drummer, best known as the current drummer with Lynyrd Skynyrd (1999–present) and for being the former drummer of Damn Yankees (1989–1996, 1998-2001). He's also the former drummer for the band, Accept (1996), and appears on Chuck Mosley's album, Will Rap Over Hard Rock for Food. Cartellone has also worked with the likes of Adrian Belew, Jack Blades, Cher, Steve Fister, John Fogerty, Peter Frampton, Brad Gillis, Wolf Hoffmann, Eddie Jobson, Tim Kirker, Freddie Mercury, Tommy Shaw, Joe Lynn Turner and John Wetton.

Michael Cartellone is also an accomplished painter. When asked if he's a painter who is a drummer, or a drummer who paints, Cartellone laughs. "It depends on who I’m speaking with. "I consider myself both. What’s really been fun about this whole double career, two-halves-of-a-whole life that I’ve created is some people know me as a drummer who can paint and some people know me as a painter who also plays drums. It’s a beautiful balance."
