Dixon Drums - Gregg Bissonette

GRAMMY Award-winning drummer Gregg Bissonette announced his new partnership with drum and hardware company Dixon Drums on April 17, 2014. The renowned drummer will introduce his Artisan Series Gregg Bissonette Signature drum set this fall, working with Dixon as an artist endorser, clinician, brand ambassador and product consultant. The Gregg Bissonette Signature set will feature his favorite shell composition, North American Maple. “I’ve always had a great passion for drum gear and a fascination with the history of drums and drumming,” says Bissonette. “I’m always eager to learn more about musical drumming and drum set vocabulary. I love the way drumming history and new vocabulary affects me as a player. With Dixon, I can contribute my experience as a whole to the growth and development of a brand committed to quality and the art of drumming.”

Bissonette’s decision to join Dixon came from their shared goal to advance the art of drumming through quality craftsmanship, innovation and education.

“Gregg Bissonette fits Dixon’s vision and values like a glove,” says Dixon Brand Manager Jim Uding. “Gregg represents what drumming is all about and has something to offer anyone who picks up a pair of drumsticks. Gregg Bissonette is not only good for Dixon, he’s good for drumming in general.”

The endorsement comes on the heels of Bissonette’s announcement that he will be returning to Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band this summer for Ringo’s North American tour. The tour kicks off on June 6 in Rama, Canada, running the expanse of the US before culminating at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre on July 19. Gregg was a member of Ringo and the Roundheads from 2003 to 2005 and has been a part of the All-Starrs since 2008.

Gregg Bissonette’s background ranges from big band, blues and rock, to Latin, fusion and much more. He has played with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Ringo Starr, Santana, James Taylor, David Lee Roth, Toto, Linda Ronstadt, Andrea Bocelli, Brian Wilson, Smash Mouth, the Doobie Brothers, Ozzy Osbourne, the Brian Setzer Band, Enrique Iglesias and Britain’s loudest band, Spinal Tap. He has played on scores for TV (NBC’s hit show Friends) and film, including Best in Show, The Devil Wears Prada, American Pie, The Bucket List, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Enchanted, Waiting for Guffman,The Mighty Wind and the Academy Award-winning song Man or Muppet from the film The Muppets.

Gregg recently released his third solo album, Warning Will Robinson, which features brother Matt Bissonette on bass and backing vocals and includes a CD with play-along tracks minus drums. He is also very involved in educating and inspiring drummers across the globe through his Gregg Bissonette Drum School at DrumChannel.com, his clinic tours and the annual Gregg Bissonette Groove Camp.
