The tension is mounting as votes pile up for contestants in Hit Like A Girl 2012: The Contest For Female Drummers. As the competition heads into its final stretch, its sponsors have announced that, thus far, 128 drumming videos by girls and women from as young as eight to over fifty— and from all around the world— have been posted to the hitlikeagirl2012.com website. Along with entries from the United States, videos have been posted by drummers from Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.

Hit Like A Girl 2012 has also announced that the world-famous School Of Rock music school has joined major event sponsors Crush, Drum!, Tom-Tom, TRX, Alfred Publishing, Drum Channel, Evans, SKB and Vater; contributing drum gear  and prizes that have value of more than $10,000.  Media sponsors include DrummerCafe.com, Onlinedrummer.com, SickDrummerMagazine.com, Drummerconnection.com and Drumlink.com. In addition, Daisy Rock, Drumscore.com, Fuse Fitness For Women, Kelly Shu, Swan Percussion, Common Ground Festival, District Drum Company, Interstate Music, Kickport, MEOW, Savior Custom Drums, The Drum Experts, Public Relations Divas, Obsidian Development Group, Love Gone Apparel, Pahu International, and Torre Fuerta Music, have signed on as contest supporters.

Entering and voting continue online at hitlikeagirl2012.com through April 15, 2012. At that point the most popular videos along with several “wild card” entries will be adjudicated by a panel of top women drummers, including Sheila E, Kimberly Thompson, Jess Bowen, Susie Ibarra, Dawn Richardson and Hannah Ford.
