Modern Drummer Festival Weekend 2006 DVDs

Hudson Music and Modern Drummer Publications are proud to announce the release of the Modern Drummer Festival Weekend 2006 DVDs; two double-disc sets covering the eighteenth and perhaps most exciting and diverse edition of the world-famous drumming event. Filmed at the majestic New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the four discs cover the two-day Festival in greater depth and detail than ever before and feature performances and behind-the-scenes interviews of sixteen of the most influential and important drummers on today’s drumming scene.

Besides providing the benefit of seeing these incredible performers and their performances up-close— and hearing them in superb, studio-quality digital sound— each DVD set also includes essential coverage of the drum artists demonstrating and discussing technique, practice routines and specific examples of their MD Festival performances from behind a practice kit. And, for the first time ever, the DVDs feature several drummer-on-drummer interviews, such as Steve Smith/Thomas Lang, Aaron Spears/Gerald Heyward and others, which produced interesting yet unexpected results as well as some truly classic moments.

  • Saturday (2-discs, 6:20, HL# HDDVDMD33) includes performances and interviews by Ronald Bruner Jr. (The Stanley Clarke Band), Jason McGerr (Death Cab For Cutie), the historic R&B/Gospel Summit featuring R&B session-ace Teddy Campbell, Gerald Heyward (Beyoncé), Aaron Spears (Usher) and gospel great, Marvin McQuitty, drummer/percussionist Glenn Kotche, master drummer Thomas Lang with master percussionist Luis Conte and drumming legend Stewart Copeland with his band, Gizmo.
  • Sunday (2-discs, 6:30, HL# HDDVDMD34) features performances and interviews by rock/fusion phenom Dave DiCenso, Latin-jazz artist Bobby Sanabria with Ascensión, Brann Dailor (Mastodon), Mike Mangini (Steve Vai), Danny Seraphine with CTA and Steve Smith’s Jazz Legacy

The two-disc sets for Saturday and Sunday are sold separately and carry a suggested retail price of $39.95 each. In addition, a special bonus pack including both days, all four discs and nearly 13 hours of material is available at a reduced price of $59.95 (HL# HDDVDMD35).
