StantonMoore_BartElliottStanton Moore and Bart Elliott

Stanton Moore gave Bart Elliott exclusive rights to record and document his entire drum clinic for the Drummer Cafe.

In his clinic, recorded on March 10, 2010 in Nashville, TN, Stanton focuses on his new multimedia project, Groove Alchemy featuring an instructional book, DVD (Hudson Music) and a 12-track CD (Telarc). All three facets of the project explore the roots of funk drumming by examining the work of pioneers like Jabo Starks, Clyde Stubblefield, and Zigaboo Modeliste — each of whom made their mark as the engines driving James Brown's and the Meters' legendary rhythm sections and in turn tracing their influences back to the rhythms coming out of New Orleans in the earlier part of the 20th century.

Special thanks to Stanton & Aletta Moore for allowing the Drummer Cafe exclusive video coverage of the clinic, Gary Forkum at Fork's Drum Closet for hosting the clinic at Soundcheck, plus John Palmer and the entire team at Gretsch Drum Company for making the clinic possible.

After watching the following two-hour drum clinic, you'll most certainly want to catch the next Stanton Moore drum clinic or live performance. You'll also want to pick-up Stanton's new educational pack, Groove Alchemy.
